Peggy Ann Fredrick

Mrs. Peggy Fredrick, age 58 of Flat Lick, KY, departed this life on Thursday, May 01, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of Jerry Wayne Fredrick. Mrs. Fredrick was born December 27, 1949 in Knox Co. to the late Arvil & Mattie (Pillion) Mills. Mrs. Fredrick believed in the Baptist faith, and was a homemaker, who loved to take care of her family. Her parents, one son Michael Fredrick, one brother Ronnie Mills, two sisters Betty Baker, Brenda Mills, one grandchild Nicholas Fredrick preceded Mrs. Fredrick in death. Survivors include four children, to whom she was just not a mother but also a best friend, One son Vernon Fredrick & wife Shelia of Corbin, Ky., three daughters Jamie Hobbs & husband David of Scalf, Ky., Linda Hobbs & husband Randy of Flat Lick, Ky., Veronica Spivey & husband David of Barbourville, Ky., two brothers Danny Mills of Artemus, Ky., Haskell Mills & wife Sharon of Artemus, Ky., two sisters Sue Hensley of Artemus, Ky., Debbie Reel & husband Robert of Barbourville, Ky., 11 grandchildren Charles Spivey, Kimberly Spivey, Kendra Fredrick, Corey Fredrick, Jerry Lee Bright II, Kate Lynn Fredrick, Brittany Hobbs, Randy Hobbs, David Hobbs, Justina Hobbs and Kyle Reel. The family would also like to mention Eddie Early who was like a son to Mrs. Fredrick. Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Ann Fredrick will be conducted on Saturday – May 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Fredrick & Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Gary Mills, Haskell Mills Jr., Jerry Baker, Ballard Collins, Danny Baker, Eddie Early, and Robert Reel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will Roy Kinder, Dr. Mohan’s Office, Professional Home Health. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. To the family of Mrs. Fredrick, the staff of the Hampton Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.

 

Alvis K. Bryant

Mr. Alvis K. Bryant, 98, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday evening, April 29, 2008 in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.  He was a son of the late George Matt and Alice Logan Bryant born on November 19, 1909 at King.Mr. Bryant retired from the United States Postal Service as Assistant Postmaster in Barbourville and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville.  From 1928 until 1937, he taught school in Knox County.  He faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II and loved gardening, raising flowers, walking and riding around to enjoy the local scenery. On March 5, 1932, he united in marriage with Maude Ethel Corey in Pineville who preceded him in death on September 2, 1986.  Later, on December 7, 1989, he united in marriage with Aretta Dozier Sexton in Barbourville. Other family members to precede him in death include a daughter, Wilma Jean Bryant, six brothers and five sisters.Survivors include his wife, Aretta Bryant of Barbourville; a daughter, Betty Gamblin and husband, Rick, of Winchester; two stepdaughters, Joyce Hisel and husband, Hershel, of Lexington and Patricia Smith and husband, Douglas, of McKee; two grandchildren, Bryan Lee Gamblin of Atlanta, GA and Amy Leigh Gamblin of Lexington; 10 step grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.His funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 3 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Shane Nickell and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating.  Mr. Bryant was laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery with military funeral honors.Casket bearers were Russell Pope, Wilbert Evans, Kenneth Cobb, Wayne Bryant, Bryan Gamblin and Lonny McMichael.  Honorary bearers were Clevis Carter, Dr. Charles Stargel, Rick Gamblin, Ed Boyd, Chester Bryant, Jamie Gitzsinger, Bill Lane, George Bryant, David Ballard, Sam Cole and Dennis Gibson.Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
